Derekegyház

Derekegyház is located southeast of and 11 kilometres far from Szentes, next to Kórógy-streamlet.

From 1765, this settlement became the possession of the Károlyi family and they built an impressive Baroque styled castle here. At present, the building is a home for the elderly and it is declared a historic building together with its park. In the beginning of the 20th century, the heirs of Count Weis-Mafréd owned the building, then they built a mansard storey over it. Due to its present function, only some parts of it can be visited. The Kórógy-stream and its area is an ideal place for fishing and taking an excursion.

It is a prominent fact that Derekegyháza is the richest in forests in Csongrád county and there are a lot of small games here. The traditional hunting is represented by the mansion-like Hunting House of the village.
