History
The locality is situated at the foot of mountains in Timis County, in the region of Banat, about which B.P.Hasdeu said: „... from all regions inhabited today by Romanians North from Danube, Banat and Oltenia, having as common continuation the area of Haţeg, are the only to represent the historic and geographic permanent settlement of the Romanian people ...”. The name of the village comes from the slav word „Twrd” which in Serbian means „hard”.
