History

The localities of Pietroasa commune are documented for the first time in 16th century. Between 1514-1516 they appear to be property of Count Gheorghe Brandenburg. In 1596 Poieni village is donated by Sigismund Batory to Ştefan Iosika, three years later it appears as property of Sigismund Sarmasaghi. Pietroasa is mentioned as belonging to Ştefan Torok in 1597, then to Ştefan Bethlen. In 1658 the whole region was conquered by Turks, and later in 1718 it is taken by the Habsburgs, until 1918 when Pietroasa region becomes part of Great Romania.
