History

The auspicious geographical conditions, the particularities of the soil and subsoil, the hydrographic network and the climate favored the settlement and an organized life, as attested through archeological excavations and dated as early as the paleolitic age.

Dumbrava – 1893

  • 1921 – it belonged to Caraş-Severin County, district of Făget, and was a commune residence with 1718 inhabitants.
  • 1935 – part of Severin County, district of Făget, commune residence with 1617 inhabitants.
  • 1956 – commune residence in the region of Timişoara, including three villages (Răchita, Băseşti (today Begheiul Mic) and Bucovăţ).
  • 1966 – part of the region of Banat, district of Făget, with 1519 inhabitants and including Răchita, Begheiul Mic and Bucovăţ.
  • 1972 – part of Timiş County, commune residence with 1049 inhabitants and including Bucovăţ and Răchita.

Bucovăţ – 1440

  • 1140 – mentioned as belonging to Şoimuş Citadel
  • 1890 – commune residence with 768 inhabitants, under the administration of Făget district in the Caraş-Severin County.
  • 1921 – counted 810 inhabitants as part of Caraş-Severin County, district of Făget.
  • 1935 – belonged to Severin County, district of Făget, with 666 inhabitants.
